Review: Kid Cas' "Kid Cas' Laboratory" shows MVP like potential

Hip-hop groups are multiple and plenty, so it's only right that the latest group to enter is the self dubbed super group, The Black Tie Affair. The groups' introduction comes via the Maryland new comer known as Kid Cas, who offers up his third project titled "Kid Cas' Laboratory."

As any listener will be able to tell from the artwork "Kid Cas' Laboratory" is inspired by Cartoon Network's popular cartoon Dexter's Laboratory and the six-track EP is full of skits from the show that creates easy listening, flow and animation to the EP.

Along with samples and skits "Kid Cas' Laboratory" is experimental with beats and raspy rhymes delievering in self confidence with lines provided in track number three titled "Steph Curry," where Kid Cas declares himself the MVP of the rap game.

"I'm the number one pick. I'm the fellow that's in the draft class that whatever team is choosing first don't brother to switch, so ahead of these kids." Cas continues explaining why he feels he is the MVP with, "I'm on a mission. You can tell it just from my effort. Ever song I make I'm salty, so I mix it with pepper."

"Kid Cas' Laboratory" has a little of everything for its listener including a sample from Amerie's "1 Thing" on the track "Just One Thing" that unfortunately leaves the listener wanting a little more, which Cas attempts to deliver with the bonus track "Seein Thoughts," where the rapper shows off his singing ability on the hook.

Overall "Kid Cas' Laboratory" show cased potential from Kid Cas and was a decent offering from The Black Tie Affair. Can't wait to see what else the hip-hop group has in store.
