Soul II Soul to play Parklife Main Stage in 2016

Soul II Soul, the pioneers of the neo-soul movement of the 90s and all-round funk phenomenon will play one of the largest growing festivals in the UK this year. Parklife 2016 has surpassed all expectations with its line up, ranging from huge international artists like Ice Cube and Major Lazer through to some of the best up-and-comers in the scene such as Kelela and Manchester’s Levelz crew. With a 140,000 strong audience expected to be attending, Soul II Soul are the act that having stood out on their tour this year cannot be missed, and can be booked for other shows through their Soul II Soul booking agent.

Soul II Soul have seemingly smashed every venue they have played at in their UK tour this year through booking agents MN2S. Since 1989, the group have pioneered a uniquely crafted vibe that is distinguished by elements of jazz, funk, hip-hop and African music. From their initial involvement in the scene as famous house party heads and sound system selectors, they would go on to receive chart successes with the Number 1 UK single ‘Back to Life’ (However Do You Want It) and ‘Keep On Movin’.

Their performances today are as electrifying as ever. Purveying a distinctive vibe of positivity which never fails to get the hips swaying, Soul II Soul have been at the top of their game for over 25 years and counting. Their music is takes a range of sonic accompaniments in the forms of breakbeat, jazz and low, slung-out funk which has stood the test of time in their shows through MN2S booking agency. It is undoubtedly Soul II Soul’s substance in their lyrics which has kept the wave rolling throughout all these years, and why they continue to headline festivals in the ilk of Parklife, Wildlife and more.

Their love for the music remains a key feature at their live shows today. With Caron Wheeler’s vocals oozing over the beats laid down by MBE winner Jazzie B with an ethereal quality, their vibrant nature continues to resonate with listeners both young and old today. At a recent show in Norwich, a fan remarked with enthusiasm that there was “people from all ages. 20 – 80s. It’s awesome.”

Another striking feature from that same gig was the diverse audience they attracted, as pointed out by Cultured Vultures blog. One of the group’s most outstanding features is their standing as a perfect example of British multiculturalism.

Jazzie B recollected the audience being unique as far back as when they hosted their regular Sunday night session at the Africa Centre in Covent Garden, “You had people from all walks of life at the Africa Centre. A very eclectic crowd. It was like Benetton down there!”

Soul II Soul were one of the first exponents of a fusion of different backgrounds and cultures which is now most evident in UK’s grime scene, with acts such as Skepta, Casisdead and Novelist also playing a large part at Parklife this summer. Accompanied with a large ensemble of talented musicians for their bookings with MN2S, they have a full sympathy of beautiful sounds with violinists and soul singers to complete their set up Soul II Soul should not be missed.
