About The Blog

I grow up in the days of, "word", "dope", "fresh" and "fly". With magazines like "Word" and "Right On". Like Biggie, I to had Salt Pepa on my wall. I wanted a fat gold chain and that hair cut badly. But of course my mom wasn't going let me do the hair cut and I couldn't afford a real fat gold chain. Back then not only did I have magazines that helped a small town girl like myself identify with my favorite Hip Hop artist, but there was also music videos shows like YO! MTV raps and BET's Rap City. Two shows I miss dearly. I remember my parents hating watching videos, which I didn't understand because as I put it "there ain't nothing else one".

Coming from a small town, only a few people were fly and I think I was and still I'm one of the few that were fashion forward.(My sister qualifies as being the only person more into fashion than me.) Videos gave me ideas to express myself through fashion, along with magazines. Without them there is no way I could've been in New York, Chicago, LA or Philadelphia everyday experiencing different music, fashion and slang. This is why when I travel am always getting asked were I'm from.

Why Hip Hop? Because that's my culture. It's in the way I walk and talk. Hip Hop gave me swag (forgive the use of the word I think it's over used but it fits perfect here) from birth. I guess you can blame my Aunt Thyra and Uncle Dexter for that. They went to high school in the 80's when I was a kid and I listened to their cassette tapes and instantly I felt myself. This was it. Not being a diss to R&B, Hip Hop just spoke to me. It's expression commanded attention. Sort of like my presence.

With that being said I, Rani O'Shea, bring to you , "a girl and her Hip Hop". My little version of YO! MTV Raps and BET's Rap City.

One more thing Girls Rock!

Just a little explanation of my company, EllaEmmaPea Media and it's name.

The name EllaEmmaPea is taken from the letters in the alphabet LMNOP. EllaEmmaPea is the sound that you make when you say those letters together real fast. You probably made this sound when you were a child while saying your ABC's. The EllaEmmaPea brand stands for quality in entertainment, sports, arts and fashion.
